Corporate Regatta 2007 News

by Vermeer

On Saturday 30 September, the Team from Vermeer Queensland took up the call and participated in the River City Outrigger Corporate Challenge. Over 100 paddlers turned out for a sunny Sunday morning on the river at Colmslie.

Teams consisted of 5 corporate paddlers and an experienced steerer from the Outrigger club. The course was a straight 250 meter sprint, which proved quite demanding, but taught participants the importance of achieving rhythm with their team.

Participating companies including Nissan Motor Company, Elders Rural and Insurance, Geodis Wilson Freight Management, Lock-Up Concreting, Melbourne IT and Seahawks Clothing and Promotions.

Vermeer fielded 3 teams, “Up the Creek”, “Without a Paddle” and “The Navigators” with “Up the Creek” progressing through to the Wooden Spoon finals and claiming 3rd

Thanks must go to River City Outrigger Club for hosting this fantastic event and Vermeer’s own Sheryl Richardson whose experience with a paddle proved invaluable. Well done VERMEER.

Queensland Health take out the Wooden Spoon

Corp Day

The RiverCity OCC Corporate Day Challenge day was a fantastic experience. Our small group went along - there was not a paddler amongst us and we were a bit unsure about how we would go-- each one of us including my friend Jane who gets sea sick in the bath - had a whale of a time and really enjoyed the experience - The only race we actually won was the wooden spoon race- it was a real feeling of achievement as we got better over the course of the day. I would recommend this as a great way of improving the team spirit. I was slightly hesitant about participating in RiverCity's Corp Challenge however I was proved wrong as I had a great day with lots of laughs. I am visually impaired and my team mates were completely supportive and it was such a huge achievement for me, I am looking forward immensely to the next Corp Day Challenge. I would recommend this experience to anyone.
