ROCC Awards Night 2006/2007 season
The ROCCstars Awards night was a great end to the 06/07 season. I’m sure everyone would agree that we all appreciate the hard work and effort put in by the coaches, steerers, committee members and behind the scenes organisers for our club.
Sandy and Carole’s presentation dresses were outstanding and put the rest of us to shame, its 20 years since I wore an 80’s dress (that’s probably a good thing). The movie awards were very entertaining and we all had a great laugh.
It was a great opportunity to see everyone dressed up and looking gorgeous and I hope to be part of many more.
I had a fantastic first year with the club, thanks everyone.

Yes, it was another wonderful night with 70 plus people attending the ROCCstars Awards Night function.
We were also joined by paddlers from Brisbane Outrigger Canoe Club which confirms ROCC’s goal of having a club that aspires to the “friendship of the sport”.
The Morrison Hotel proved to be a great venue for this event and the proprietors were more than impressed with our behaviour so might be an ongoing venue for clubbies to support.
The awards were decided not just on your ability in the canoe but your attitude and assistance out of the canoe…on this basis the awards were presented to the following ROCCstars:

BRETT “Flipper” ROONEY Male - Paddlers of the Season
SHERYL ”Mini” RICHARDSON - Novice Female Paddler of the Season
PETER “Zack” FORCZAK - Novice Male Paddler of the Season

Numerous Red Carpet Grammy Awards were presented during the night with some members taking their roles a little too far…Deborah Thomas proudly displaying the result of her Best Actress in a Movie role for “Knocked Up”.

A big thank you to Sandy Cooper for putting this together, there wasn’t a dry eye (laughing ‘til you cried) in the place after a few awards were read out.
We look forward to another successful season and welcoming new members into the ROCCstar “Hall of Fame”.
